Students choose in advance the number of hours individual tuition they require per week, (15, 20, 25 or 30). Lessons normally take place in the morning, Monday to Friday, unless otherwise agreed with the student and European Homestay. Students are provided with a course book and student book although teachers usually supplement courses with their own teaching materials to make for a more enjoyable and dynamic course.
European Homestayoffers its students courses tailored to individual needs. This offers the teacher the flexibility to design a course with the student that meets their specific requirements for learning the language they have chosen. This can be a very rewarding teaching experience.
THANKYOUFORYOURINTERESTINTEACHINGONA EUROPEAN HOMESTAYCOURSE.
European Homestay runs Intensive Homestay courses in Europe, mainly in the UK, Ireland, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Cyprus and Greece. Ourobjective is to give students Total Immersion in the language and culture they have chosen to study wherever they have selected to homestay.
Students arewelcomed into their teachers' homes where they experience life as part of the family together withan individual programme of intensive tuition. They usually make rapid progress due to the intensity of the courses.
EUROPEAN HOMESTAYOFFERSCOURSESALLYEARROUNDTOALLAGESANDLEVELSOFSTUDENTSINSEVERALCOUNTRIESIN EUROPE. In addition to General Language Courses in English, French, Italian and Spanish, students may choose to study Business, Academic, Exam preparation and Technical Language Courses in the language of their choice. The average length of stay is two weeks but some students particularly those on Academic and Exam courses can homestay for several months.
Our students are:
• Young adults who may be preparing for Exams • Business professionals wishing to improve their communication skills for their work • International students in Independent schools needing to improve their language for Academic purposes
• People of any age simply wishing to improve their language skills on a study holiday.
The student should be treated as a member of the family. Teachers are expected to provide:
• Comfortable, adequately heated study bedroom with table, lamp, wardrobe and radio if possible. • Light reading material which may be of interest to the student, such as paperbacks, newspapers, magazines • Information about placesto visit in your local area. • Three meals a day to include breakfast, dinner and a light lunch. All meals should be taken with the teacher and, whenever possible, the family and friends.
• Facilities for laundry.
Conversation with the teacher and family outside lessons plays an equally important part in the progress made by the student, and many of our students have said how much they have learned in general conversation with native speakers.
We cannot stress enough how important it is for teachers to create a Total Immersion environment in the language the student has chosen to learn what ever the location.
We offer 2:1 courses where two students live and learn together in your home. This is popular with couples, members of the same family and friends.
We also run small group homestay courses for teachers with larger homes. Have a look at our Group Course pages to get further information.
We run Group Courses in English, French, Italian and Spanish.
Most students arrive with at least a basic knowledge of the language they wish to learn, they are well motivated and a pleasure to teach.
However we do sometimes have beginners and all students are encouraged to bring dictionaries with them. The internet is a useful resource for this as well.
Generally we cater to the needs of the student and design courses specifically to suit their requirements.
